A single-vehicle collision leads to charges and one person in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
NORFOLK COUNTY - An Oxford County man is facing charges after a collision in Norfolk County.
Constable, Andrew Gamble of the Norfolk OPP shared that just after 1 a.m. this morning members of the Norfolk County OPP, along with the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 19 near the Norfolk-Oxford County border.
It was determined through the investigation that a sedan on Highway 19 left the road and entered a field. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries, however the passenger had to be airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
As a result, the 23-year-old male driver from Oxford County has been charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, operation causing bodily harm, and dangerous operation causing bodily harm. The man will have a court date in Simcoe next month.
Highway 19, between Norfolk County Road 30 and Carson Line, was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
