WOODSTOCK - A Community Free Table is about to open downtown Woodstock.
It's going to open in the side parking lot of the TD Bank on Dundas Street on Tuesday April 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and it will be available on a weekly basis afterward.
Chris Eby founded the Community Free Table back in September 2018 to help the less fortunate in our community.
"We work with the homeless people and the less fortunate people who are struggling to make sure they have something to eat, make sure they have some groceries to give them a hand up. We also advocate for these people as far as finding counselors."
He's now looking for community groups who would be interested in volunteering for the table.
"We would invite them to make sandwiches, barbeque hotdogs and hamburgers, or serve some kind of soup or something to show these people that they do care."
Eby says donations are also needed for the Oxford Food Gap Store, which allows the less fortunate to purchase groceries for low prices. Those interested in volunteering their time or donating to the cause can call Eby at 519-608-8547.
