United Way Oxford and the Oxford Community Foundation will distribute federal funding from the Community Services Recovery Fund in the New Year.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford will be working alongside the Oxford Community Foundation in order to distribute federal funding locally.
The Community Services Recovery Fund will be distributed amongst charities, non-profits, and Indigenous Governing Bodies across Canada.
Kelly Gilson, the Executive Director of United Way Oxford, says the money will help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This program is really about service recovery. Building community services and making sure that organizations are enhancing their capacity to move forward following a few very difficult years in terms of the workload, the stress load, the impact on fundraising, and the increase in demands and services."
Gilson says local causes should think about applying once the applications open on January 6th, 2023.
"Although the applications won't be started until the beginning of January, we really think it's important for organizations to understand that the Community Service Recovery Fund is coming and that they can begin to think about the types of programs and services that they might want to be applying for. That way when January comes it's not really a last-minute thing. They have had time to process and prepare."
The Community Service Recovery Fund includes $400-million and it will be distributed by Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, and United Way Centraide Canada nationwide.
