The first commercial card lock compressed natural gas fast fill fuelling facility has opened up just outside of Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Rural Green Energy Inc. have officially opened the first commercial card lock compressed natural gas fast fill fuelling facility just outside of Woodstock.
President of Rural Green Energy Inc, John Ysseltein Jr. says they couldn't of done this without the support of Oxford County.
“We are pleased to have the support of our local municipality Oxford County and a large number of Ontario fleet owners. We are committed to providing a cleaner, more sustainable, economical fuel option. We are fuelling change.”
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch is thrilled to see the new CNG station up and running.
“This is a timely and welcome development that provides our community with another energy choice to support our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The City of Woodstock’s Municipal Energy Plan establishes a goal of reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by 38% and 37% by 2031 from the 2013 baseline. We look forward to the Phase II introduction of RNG for a more sustainable energy choice."
Oxford County CAO Peter Crockett was also happy to see this project completed.
"Rural Green Energy's Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuelling facility is an excellent example of the business growth opportunities that will arise when private enterprise works together with government to achieve our community sustainability commitments. In this case, Oxford "greening" its fleet demonstrates responsible environmental leadership and stewardship. Only through working with all our community partners will we successfully achieve the goals and aspirations of our Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan."
Phase two of this project will see Rural Green Energy retailing a blend of CNG and RNG (bio-methane from livestock waste) allowing customers to further reduce C02 vehicle emissions.
The official grand opening is happening on Friday May 5th.
