The Police Service Board for Norwich Township will discuss the conduct of one of it's members tomorrow.

NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The conduct of one of the members of the Police Service Board for Norwich Township will be discussed.

The Township has confirmed to Heart FM that it has received letters from concerned residents in regards to comments Gerrit TenHove has made about the Progress flags in Norwich.

TenHove is the provincial appointee on the Police Service Board, an elder for the Netherlands Reformed Church congregation and the Secondary Principal at Rehoboth Christian School in Norwich.

In his letter to the Norwich BIA, included in the minutes for the June 7th meeting, TenHove states the Christian church community was very disappointed with the decision to hang the Progress flags on hydro poles downtown. It says the Progress flag celebrates something that is in contrast with the church's values and the BIA should not be promoting one set of values over another. He says only the Canadian, Ontario, and Norwich Township flags should be flown on Township property.

The Oxford OPP is currently investigating the theft of Progress flags in Norwich ahead of the long weekend. Two people have been charged in this investigation; a 47-year-old man from Tillsonburg and a 16-year-old from Norwich Township.

In his letter to the BIA, TenHove also states that that his church community does not condone hate, theft, trespassing or vandalism. He says Rehoboth Christian School worked with a student to "to make appropriate restitution for the wrong done."

TenHove's conduct as a Police Service Board member will be discussed during tomorrow's board meeting at 5:00 p.m.
