The bridge on Vansittart Ave in Woodstock will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic starting today.
WOODSTOCK - The bridge on Vansittart Ave will be down to one lane.
There will be alternating traffic controlled by a portable traffic light.
Manager of Transportation and Waste Management Services, Frank Gross explains why the closure is taking place.
"Bell Canada will have a contractor on site to relocate the telecommunications line on the bridge there. That work is required before the major rehab work that is planned to start next year in February."
Gross explains how traffic will be affected.
"The bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Temporary traffic signals will be in place at each end of the bridge to control alternating traffic."
Gross adds drivers and people that live in the area should be mindful of the work taking place, and give themselves extra time to get to their destinations.
The work starts today and will last roughly two weeks.
