The construction of the new Children's Aid Society building in Woodstock has hit a few speed bumps. Construction resumed a few weeks ago after it was stalled from the discovery of ground water. In the meantime, Executive Director Bruce Burbank says the organization gathered enough money to pay back the County. "The sale of building didn't quite cover the purchase price of the property so the county was good enough to loan us the difference. So I do have a cheque to reimburse the county; I know it's budget time and I thought it would be timely to reimburse the county for what we owe you for that outstanding loan". Burbank says they were able to rectify the ground water problem by raising the building's base. But this has pushed back the deadline to next December. "We did lose some time with the discovery of the groundwater but we're back on track and we're confident we will meet that deadline." The parking lot will be level with the neighbours, which will see a privacy fence now instead of a 9-foot barrier. Ramps also had to be added to the building design as well as the rearrangement of some parking spots.
