As Kids Help Phone prepares for the 19th Annual Walk So Kids Can Talk fundraiser, they've asked for Woodstock City council's help. They requested to use a few resources for the event, including a stage.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City council will assist Kids Help Phone in an upcoming fundraiser later this year.
It will be the 19th Annual Walk So Kids Can Talk and it'll take place at College Avenue Secondary School.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says Kids Help Phone has requested to use a few resources.
"So for this it's use of the stage that the city has and some sound equipment and I'm sure you'll also see some councillors and the Mayor out there as well supporting and helping to raise that awareness."
He adds Kids Help Phone have been doing the fundraiser for a number of years and many of the City's community agencies attend.
Woodstock City council approved their request at a council meeting on Thursday.
He says the event serves as an opportunity to thank all of the volunteers involved.
"The volunteers and individuals in our community that are out there on the front lines, whether it's in official capacity or behind the scenes in a volunteer capacity and that's what really makes this such a great community. When people come together and they share of their time and talent and we make sure that some of the most vulnerable in our community know where to find the resources when they're needed."
Mayor Birtch adds this is a great fundraising opportunity and he says anyone who can attend the event to come and learn.
The event will be on May 3rd from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
