A massive development is going to bring lots of new homes to the village of Norwich.
NORWICH - Oxford County Council has given the green light to a massive development project for the village of Norwich.
There's going to be three townhouses, 16 single detached dwellings and 120 seniors apartment units constructed in the west end of town.
Mayor Larry Martin says it will be in the area of Main Street and Centre Street; about two blocks west of the Foodland.
"It's still within walking distance from the core area. It's really what we need and it's the biggest addition that I've seen in all of my time involved in municipal politics in the township of Norwich and I wish them all the best."
The apartments will be constructed in three stages adding 40 units at a time. But Martin says it could still be awhile before the construction begins, adding there's more paperwork that needs to be done first.
Once it is up and running, Martin says it will be open to all.
"This one is open to the public and all they (the developer) asks is that you respect one another."
