County Council Reviews Drinking Water Systems Report

Eleven of Oxford's drinking water systems had been inspected when the drinking water systems report was put together. Eight of them received compliance ratings of 100 percent.

OXFORD COUNTY - Eight of Oxford County's water systems have received 100 percent compliance ratings. This includes Beachville, Bright, Brownsville, Drumbo-Princeton, Embro, Innerkip, and Oxford South.

Hickson received a 99 percent rating, while Lakeside and Mount Elgin both got 95 percent.

Inspections are still underway for the remaining six water systems in Oxford; Tavistock, Ingersoll, Thamesford, Tillsonburg, Dereham Centre, and Woodstock.

Warden Marcus Ryan says County Council looked over the annual drinking water systems report last week.

"This report is a very detailed report. It's quite long, but it's quite long because it's very detailed in the exact measures that are taken to prevent there being a problem with Oxford residents' clean and safe drinking water. So I am really proud of that report and I think residents should be proud of it. They can read through it for their own specific drinking water system, wherever they live in Oxford County, and it will tell them the steps that are taken every day so their water will be clean and safe today and tomorrow."

The report also highlights the County's $20-million investment in water infrastructure.
