Five municipal wastewater systems in Oxford County achieved compliance ratings of 100% in the 2020 Wastewater Treatment Plant Summary Report.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council was presented the 2020 Wastewater Treatment Plant Summary Report last week.
Five of the County's nine municipal wastewater systems in the County achieved compliance ratings of 100%. Two municipalities had a compliance rate of 99% and the other two had 98% and 97% respectively.
Warden Larry Martin says those numbers are reassuring.
"There is 604 kilometres of sewer pope in the ground with 35 pumps, so there is a lot of work involved here and there was over 4,000 samples taken. This is very good news, they are operating almost perfect, but not quite but it is great to see those kind of numbers come up."
The numbers are quite similar to the 2019 report. The County also undertook solar power and energy optimization projects at three wastewater treatment plants in 2020 to lower energy consumption at those sites.
