Oxford County Council will look over the 2024 Development Charge Background Study during tomorrow's meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - Development charges are on the agenda for Oxford County Council.
During the meeting this week, Council will be asked to approve the 2024 Development Charge Background Study, along with a listing of capital projects that would be supported by development charges over the next 10 years.
The charges are the fees paid by land developers to help finance the municipal infrastructure and services that are needed to support new growth in residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Through development charges, municipalities are able to provide reliable and financially sustainable roads, water, wastewater, fire and ambulance, parks, and more.
Through its public consultation process for the background study this spring, Oxford County solicited feedback on whether or not to remove its current exemption for industrial development. The report that will be presented to Council recommends continuing the exemption.
