Oxford County Council will have its first look at the draft budget for 2024 this Wednesday.
OXFORD COUNTY - It is going to be a big day for Oxford County Council at the next meeting.
The draft 2024 Business Plan and Budget will be received by Council this Wednesday, ahead of special budget meetings held on November 15th and November 29th.
Seventeen new initiatives have been included in the draft, along with $104.1 million in capital spending, and $59.4 million in reserve contributions for asset management, which would be for municipal infrastructure. Also in the budget is funding for Southwestern Public Health, which is an estimated $3.3 million, and local Conservation Authorities, which could see $1.7 million.
Overall, the draft budget proposes $81.6 million for the County levy next year, which is to be collected from area municipalities, and it is a 15.3 percent increase over 2023.
The Oxford County Library Business Plan and Budget is also released to Council at the November 8th County Council meeting. In 2024, the Library will focus on its membership engagement strategy and review its technology services and use of facilities space.
