Oxford County is talking trash today. A waste management workshop is being held to kick off the process of looking at options for the future of dealing with garbage and recycling. Warden Don McKay says there are many options to consider. "Should we raise the bag tag fees? Should we go to an organics collection? There's so many things and what the public needs to know is that we can do everything. But it's always the public that pays through taxes. So we need to look for creative partnerships and creative solutions that will allow the service to be provided, but in a very cost effective manner." A public survey will also be released later this month, as well as future open houses. McKay says the County will hold "as many workshops as it takes" to come up with future plans for waste diversion. The County hopes to have its waste management plan finalized by June.
