County's Wastewater Treatment Plants Achieve 100% Compliance

It was mostly good news from the 2015 Annual Wastewater Treatment Plant report, but Public Works will be taking a closer look at the Drumbo plant.

OXFORD COUNTY - According to the 2015 Annual Wastewater Treatment Plant Reports, all nine of Oxford County's wastewater treatment plants achieved 100% compliance. Warden David Mayberry says this is very good news for the county.

"Every year within 60 days of the end of the year, the county has to submit all the reports from all of the testing they did at the wastewater treatment plants. We've met all the obligations so almost perfection in the work that we've done. A couple of little things, but overall people should be very satisfied with the performance of wastewater."

That being said, the report did find some faults with the Drumbo treatment plant. Public Works Director Robert Walton explains:

"With Drumbo, we do know that the flows are getting near the capacity of the plant and there were a couple of the objectives which we did not entirely meet. So what happens is with the ministry you work on plans as to what the issues were, why you didn't meet the objectives, and how you can get towards them."

According to Walton, they are looking at the idea of combining the Drumbo plant with another.

"Through consultation with the residents of Princeton and with the county council decision, we have brought consultation on whether Princeton Drumbo might be eventually combined as part of the solution."

Public Works is hoping to have a plan in place later this year or in early 2017.
