He would like to address affordability and homelessness as a Woodstock City Council.
WOODSTOCK - A born and raised Woodstonian would like to make a difference in his hometown.
Kurt Sutherland went to College Ave Secondary School and Huron Park Secondary School in his teenage years and now he works for Execulink Telecom.
He has decided to run for city council in hopes of bringing a new and fresh perspective to city hall.
"I've seen a lot of growth and changes in this city, good and bad, so I think I've got a good perspective on that. Being a little bit older and a little more mature, I think I can help with some of the things I have seen."
He would like to address homelessness and affordability if he's elected this fall.
"I think we need some new fresh perspective and new energy for our city. Things are getting expensive and its hard for people to pay expensive taxes."
Looking at his personal life, Sutherland has a blended family with five children and eight grandchildren with all of them living in Oxford County. He is also very involed with with the Woodstock Men's Older Timers League and Woodstock Minor Basketball in his spare time.
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
