Thirty people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Woodstock over the past week.
WOODSTOCK - COVID-19 case numbers in Woodstock have more than tripled over the past week.
On March 10th, Woodstock had just 3 active cases, today we have 33 according to the latest numbers from Southwestern Public Health.
Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says no one event is tied to the increase.
"Some of the outbreaks have been in workplaces, some have been due to social gatherings and some have been related to outbreaks related to the schools and some of them are related to the variants of concern, which spread more easily."
Dr. Lock adds in most cases, people were not following the rules.
"People were not abiding by the rules of keeping within your small family bubble, along with the fact that we have a more easily transmissible variant circulating in our community. All of that added together has caused our case count to go up."
Dr. Lock says everyone needs to be cautious and continue to follow public health guidelines.
