The Tillsonburg Fire Chief is reminding everyone to yield to the green lights of volunteer firefighters after crews responded to a fire at a row house complex on Quarter Townline Road yesterday.
TILLSONBURG - No one was hurt after a fire broke out at a row house complex on Quarter Townline Road in Tillsonburg.
Fire Chief Shane Caskanette says the fire department got the call at around 12:00 p.m. yesterday.
"The fire started on the exterior of the building under a gas meter and then it spread to a nearby fence and the exterior of the building."
About 15 firefighters responded and it took them up to two hours to extinguish the blaze. The fire affected two of the units, but the cause and the damage estimate have yet to be determined.
Caskanette says we have lots of volunteer firefighters in Oxford County and that's something drivers out there should keep in mind.
"It would help our response greatly if they would yield the right of way to the green lights when they see them because it could be their house to their family or loved ones they are responding to."
Caskanette is also reminding homeowners out there to check their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
