Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in January
The lawyers for Alec Baldwin say prosecutors have dropped criminal charges against the actor.
In January, Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died on the set of the movie "Rust."
Hutchins was fatally shot after a prop gun the actor was holding fired.
Director Joel Souzza was injured.
Baldwin has denied pulling the trigger, and says he didn't know there were live rounds in it.
Armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter, and it's not clear if prosecutors will also drop the charges against her.
According to the LA Times, prosecutors found the gun used in the shooting, a .45 Colt revolver, had been modified with a new trigger in a way that culd have made a misfire more likely.
The news comes two weeks before a trial was set to begin.
If convicted, the actor could have been sentenced to up to 18 months in jail.
Filming of the movie resumed earlier this week.
