The Public Information Centre is scheduled for January 30th.
EMBRO - There will be a Public Information Centre later this month regarding the continuing Environmental Assessment (EA) at the Embro Dam.
The EA was initiated eight years ago due to concerns relating to the embankment stability and the spillway capacity of the dam. The UTRCA and Matrix Solutions Inc. want to assess the existing site conditions and constraints, and to develop potential alternatives to address the issues that they've found.
The Public Information Centre is scheduled for January 30th, and the public is encouraged to read what's been shared and posted on the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority website and give feedback.
Sarbjit Singh, Water Control Structures Technologist at the UTRCA explains why their looking for feedback.
"The first objective will be to help the selection of the proper alternative, the second will be to know if we missed any important pieces of information that we should have considered, and the third is to work with the public in terms of designing for the future."
Once the study by Matrix Solutions is complete sometime in March, they will prepare a final report for posting with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, and in turn, the information will be relayed to the public.
Singh says there will not be another Public Information Centre, but they will still be taking comments from the public. He added the information will likely come from a press release.
