Over 140 volunteers will be digging deep and giving back to the community through the United Way's Day of Caring.
OXFORD COUNTY - The United Way of Oxford has gathered 140 volunteers to help with their annual Day of Caring event.
The event takes place on June 2nd, making this the 11th year it has been running.
Amanda Kreiger, Campaign Coordinator for the United Way explains what the whole day is about.
"So we will bring all the different people together across the county and make a difference in one day."
With all these people and organizations stepping up to the plate, Kreiger says they will be getting back just as much as they give:
"It's a great education piece to it. It really helps people in the community learn what services and programs are offered and what the difference these organizations are making."
Work will be done at the Fusion Youth Centre in Ingersoll, The Tillsonburg Community Garden, and Woodstock and District Development Services as well as a few other places.
Kreiger says the work happening at WDDS is all about creating a new, fun space to enjoy.
"We will be building an outdoor space there and the CMHA, with seating. Maglin Furniture is donating some patio tables and benches. Making a more inviting space for the clients that are there."
If you are interested in getting involved you can e-mail Amanda at amanda@unitedwayoxford.ca or give The United Way a call at (519) 539-3851.
