Woodstock youth between the ages of 15 and 18 have until this Friday at 4:00 p.m. to submit an application for the Youth in Policing Initiative.
WOODSTOCK - Time is running out for youth who are interested in applying for the Youth in Policing Initiative with the Woodstock Police.
The program offers full-time paid summer employment with the WPS to youth aged 15-18 who live in Woodstock.
Special Constable Shaylyn Jackson says they are looking to fill two positions this summer.
“We’re looking for kids who are excited to work with the community. Who are looking for some new job experience and looking to really dive in to potentially learning more about the police service.”
Jackson adds that the program doubles as a mentorship opportunity for youth.
“We’re here to mentor these youth to become contributing members of our community. We want to provide them with life skills, career development skills, and some really unique opportunities.”
Youth who are interested in applying are asked to submit a resume and the YIPI application, which can be found online here.
Applications are being accepted until Friday at 4:00 p.m. and can be either dropped off in person to Woodstock Police Service headquarters at 615 Dundas St. or by email with the subject line "YIPI Application" to recruiting@woodstockpolice.ca.
