Public Health offing free clinics in Woodstock and Tillsonburg
OXFORD COUNTY -- Recent stats indicate that roughly one in three Oxford County residents are without dental benefits.
Oxford Public Health's Community Dental Services offer free clinics in Woodstock and Tillsonburg for residents of all ages who meet their qualifications.
Dental Hygienist Colin Cook outlines the requirements for infants and children. "Based upon the two programs that are available for children, the CINOT program which is based upon an assessment for emergency care and the Healthy Smiles program which is based upon the children who are uninsured, under the age of 17 and under, they are qualified when the net family income is $21,638 or below."
Preventive services are offered for adults with a family net income of less than $21,638 if they do not have dental insurance and have not been seen by a dentist in two years. The adults with family net income above the required rate who do not have dental insurance and have not been seen by a dentist in two years can have cleaning done for a fee of $35.
"The clinics provide preventive dental services -- which includes scaling, assessments, tooth polishing, professional fluoride, pit and fissure sealants, oral hygiene education and instructions."
The clinics do not offer restorative care such x-rays, extractions or fillings but can refer the patients
Clinics are held at the Public Health location on Graham street Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and once per month in Tillsonburg at the Livingston Centre. There's a clinic this Friday (September 26th), from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Future dates for Tillsonburg are October 24th, November 28th and December 19th - dates are subject to change and appointments must be booked in advance at both locations.
Cook highlights that oral healthcare is very important for one's overall health. For more information on the clinics and qualifications/requirements, click here..
