Deputy Police Chief Daryl Longworth will be moving on to become the Deputy Police Chief for London
WOODSTOCK - Come October third, Woodstock Police Service will need a new Deputy Chief.
Current Deputy Police Chief for Woodstock Daryl Longworth will be moving on to take the position of Deputy Police Chief for London in the fall, and he says he looks forward to the challenges it will bring. "Certainly it was a decision made with a lot of effort and reflection because I certainly enjoy my position here, and love the community here, and love the police service here. But it was an opportunity for a challenge and a change."
Deputy Longworth will continue working in Woodstock until the fall. He has held his current position as deputy chief in Woodstock for the past six years and plans to take all that he has learned with him. "Policing as a whole has learned that we can't operate and do everything ourselves - it takes the whole community's participation. And I think that we've worked really hard on that, and I've worked hard on that over the last few years to really partner more with the community and work collectively as a team with the community and not just have the police try to solve the problem. I hope to take that to London - I know London is very keen and very forward thinking as well and I hope to enhance that."
The people, both at the force and within the community, will be one of the things he will miss the most. "You know, moving to a bigger centre I might lose some of that family feel within the police organization that I think we have here now, but I'd like to try and that bring that to the bigger centre as well," Longworth says.
He would like to thank the people of Woodstock for the faith and trust they placed in him over the years. He added that he believes he is leaving Woodstock in good shape.
His last day with the Woodstock Police is October 2nd.
