Police have released more information about the Amber Alert that was issued early this morning. The Alert came to an end with the father surrendering his unharmed 2 year old daughter.
BRANTFORD / HAMILTON - If the system worked, you awoke early this morning to an Amber Alert. About an hour later it was cancelled.
It took about an hour of communication after police arrived at a home in Hamilton for 37 year old Shawn McManus to surrender and hand over his unharmed 2 year old daughter, Heather McManus who was at the centre of the alert.
It was in nearby Brantford that police issued the alert around 3 a.m. this morning, saying the girl and her father were last seen just after midnight.
Police believed the little girl was abducted by her father and were last seen around 12:18 a.m. this morning leaving Brantford with 2 female adults, prompting the alert.
This story is timely as just yesterday, Heart FM reported on a story about an online petition that now has over 70,000 signatures pushing for fines for those who call 9-1-1 to complain about the early wake up calls from the Amber Alert system.
