Documents Show Wettlaufer Dismissed from Caressant Care in 2014

Unsealed court documents show Elizabeth Tracey Mae Wettlaufer was let go from Caressant Care in 2014.

WOODSTOCK - New information about the former Woodstock nurse accused of eight counts of first degree murder is coming to light through unsealed court documents.

Those documents obtained by CTV through Freedom of Information Act indicate Elizabeth Tracey Mae Wettlaufer was dismissed from her position at Woodstock's Caressant Care on March 31, 2014. The reason has not been disclosed.

Provincial law states nurses fired for misconduct, incompetence, or health related reasons impairing their ability to provide care must be reported to the regulatory body, the College of Nurses, who will then investigate.

Wettlaufer was still listed as a registered nurse until her resignation on September 30th of last year - the day after Woodstock Police began their investigation.

Wettlaufer is facing eight counts of first degree murder - including seven at Woodstock's Caressant Care and another in London - as well as four counts of attempted murder, and two counts of aggravated assault.
