A boxer who has been missing since July may have been spotted near Tillsonburg recently. Miya went missing from Princeton on July 6th. Her owner, Katie Reid was visiting her mother when her mom's dog and Miya wandered down to the creek near the family's property, as they had done together many times. Miya unfortunately did not return from their walk. Katie has contacted shelters, rescue centers and the OSPCA from Toronto to London in hope that someone may have turned Miya over. She has posted a number posters and even created a Facebook page promoting the search for Miya. In the recent weeks, there have been a number of sightings of a boxer fitting Miya's description near Tillsonburg. Stacy Riley, a volunteer with Boxer Rescue Ontario (BRO), has helped organize a number of search parties for Miya in the Tillsonburg area. Riley says the sightings are in the area of Cranberry Lane, Keswick Road and Ostrander Road. According to one resident in the area, she spots the dog fitting Miya's description at the southwest corner of Ostrander Road and Cranberry Road every morning between 6:00 and 8:00 am. Riley is advising people to stay away from the area as they are hoping it will increase their chances of capturing the wandering dog in live trap. She says the dog is very skittish and runs when it sees people however they are asking people to keep an eye out for the dog and let them know when the dog is spotted. People are encouraged to call BRO at 416-750-4709 or you can visit their website by clicking here. There is also a Facebook page that was created for the search in locating Miya that you can check out by clicking here. Riley believes the dog that is being spotted is hunkering down in a warm place for the night so the live trap is being set up every morning and closed every evening to avoid capturing any other wildlife. Reid has spent many hours searching the area herself looking for Miya but has not been fortunate to see the dog others are spotting. Reid says she is heartsick and desperately wants to be reunited with her beloved boxer. Below is a couple of photos of Miya before she went missing. She is about one year old, 50 pounds, reverse brindle with white on her chest, toes, chin and nose. You can also contact Liz Wismer at Heart FM at liz@1047.ca if you any information about the dog being spotted in the Tillsonburg area.
