Domestic Abuse Services Oxford is celebrating their 50th anniversary today by hosting an open house.
WOODSTOCK - Domestic Abuse Services Oxford is holding its 50th anniversary celebration to honour the legacy it's created for itself.
Founded in 1974 by Lee Lakeman DASO has been a staple of Oxford County for years and a beacon of hope for many.
Back in July of 2023, intimate partner violence was declared an epidemic in Oxford County making DASO even more vital.
Fundraising and Communications Coordinator, Sophie Foster talks about how common IPV is in Canada.
"IPV, intimate partner violence has just been declared an epidemic, and the rates we're seeing is actually getting closer to one in two women facing this in Canada."
Foster also talked about DASOs upcoming fall fundraiser.
"We're actually going to be a 50th anniversary cookbook. Since it's June, you can send me recipes if you have ideas because it's going to be community-based! My email is sophie@daso.ca."
You can learn more about DASO and the services they provide by visiting and taking a tour of their facilities until 7:00 pm today.
