Eastdale Public celebrated the official ribbon cutting of their new playground Friday
WOODSTOCK -- Students, staff, families and community supporters of Eastdale Public School celebrated the official ribbon cutting of their brand new
playground Friday morning.
School Principal, Regina Smith says it is has been a work in progress for close to 18-months and they are thrilled to see the final product. "It's absolutely amazing to see the kids on it and the smiles on their faces and what an amazing job this committee has done."
A number of local businesses, organizations, community members and individuals were recognized for their support in the fundraising and building of the two playgrounds. During the ceremonies, members of the Playground Committee, including Secretary Rachel Wolfe presented plaques to some local businesses. "A special thank you goes out to the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary for their $20,000 donation towards our JK/SK playground, also ADM Alliance & Nutrition, along with CRS, Firestone Textiles, Your Neighbourhood Credit Union. There's many people within the community, families that donated towards are cause. We'd like to thank everyone for their support."
Heart FM spoke with some of the JK/SK students who told us they loved their new playground, the new slide, monkey bars and climbers and said a great big "thank you" to everyone.
Wolfe expressed the feelings felt by those who worked behind the scenes and with the build. "It's amazing, it's overwhelming. The feeling is, this is a dream that has come to reality for our students here at Eastdale. We couldn't be prouder to have accomplished such an amazing goal in such a short amount of time."
