Premier's throne speech promises pandemic recovery based on economic growth.
The Ford government unofficially kicked off the June 2nd provincial campaign during today's throne speech.
The speech, which was delivered by Lt.-Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell on behalf of Premier Doug Ford, says Ontario's "ultimate goal" is avoiding future lockdowns.
The speech, which focused largely on government measures to support health care and long-term care during the pandemic, promised to build up hospital capacity and fuel economic recovery through "economic growth, not painful tax hikes or spending cuts", though no specific plans were put forth.
The government also promised to boost the economy by expanding transit and building more roads and highways.
Today's speech marks the first time the legislature has sat since Ford's cabinet shuffle in June.
