Despite council voting against the initiative, one organization isn't ready to give up on electric buses in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - It looks like the topic of electric buses still has some spark left in it.
Although Woodstock City Council voted against supporting an electric bus initiative in July, it could soon be back in front of councillors.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium, also known as CUTRIC, has some new information to bring to city council's attention.
"CUTRIC has some new information that they're working on through the National Research Council and also through their own initiative to bring some better numbers and information back to Woodstock City Council. Those numbers aren't quite ready to go yet."
Birtch adds CUTRIC is also considering conducting some research in the Friendly City.
"CUTRIC is looking at having a potential research centre for both electric buses and also for compressed gases, bio fuels, and hydrogen. They're looking here in Woodstock; it actually identified some properties within the city of Woodstock."
Birtch expects council will discuss the matter during one of their September meetings.
