Smoke from the forest fires in northern Ontario is affecting the air quality in southern Ontario.
OXFORD - A yellow warning for air quality has been issued for Oxford County.
Environment Canada says this is due to the smoke from the forest fires in northern Ontario, so you should limit your time outdoors and keep your windows and doors closed as much as possible.
The high levels of smoke could lead to health risks. The mild and common symptoms include eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches and a mild cough. The more serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains, and a severe cough.
Environment Canada says the risks are higher for people over 65, pregnant individuals, young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and those who work outside.
We're also under a yellow heat warning in Oxford County and you can read more about that online here.
