The fundraising continues as the Village of Embro gets ready for a dog park.
EMBRO - A dog park is in the works for the Village of Embro.
There is a committee working to raise a total of $28,000, and they have $17,000. They got one resident who knows the village to get ahold of one person on every street and have that person knock on doors to see if they own a dog. The idea for a dog park in the Village came after the information was gathered, which saw results of 385 households and 220 dogs. Committee Organizer Diane Normand says where the dog park will be.
"We have a place now, thanks to the township of Zorra, and that is the back of the baseball diamond at Matheson Park."
As they work towards raising the $28,000, they will be looking to the community for help. Normand says there is a great opportunity on Saturday, June 6th.
"There is a community fundraiser at Embro Family Pharmacy in association with the Thamesford Lions. They're putting on an event at 104 Commissioner Street from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. It's a fun family event with food, hamburgers, hot dogs and a children's colouring contest."
The food can be purchased through a donation to the dog park fundraising goal.
