The expo starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. Several activities are planned for the afternoon, including tours of emergency vehicles and a free BBQ lunch.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Fire Department is taking emergency preparedness to a fun new level.
To kick off Emergency Preparedness Week, the team is getting ready to host their annual Emergency Preparedness Expo. The event is taking place tomorrow at Foodland Plaza in Woodstock, and the department is inviting everyone in the community to join the expo and learn more about how to be prepared.
Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods says that the purpose of the event is to make sure the community is ready in the event of a disaster.
"We want the parents to understand what it means to be prepared for disasters that may happen in our area, but we also want the kids to be involved."
She adds that there will be a group of community agencies helping to bring awareness to their cause.
"There will be representatives from the Woodstock Police, Woodstock General Hospital, the Salvation Army, Victim Services, VASoc, the Rapid Relief Team, and the City of Woodstock Board of Works."
The expo starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. Several activities are planned for the afternoon, including tours of emergency vehicles and a free BBQ lunch.
Join us this Saturday May 6th, 10am - 2pm, at Foodland Plaza 645 Dundas St for EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS EXPO EVENT: ARE YOU PREPARED?! Come out and speak with community agencies to learn how you can help keep your family safe in an emergency #EPWeek2023 pic.twitter.com/HVYu2PH7WL
