No reports of injuries after a couple of barrels exploded at the Toyota plant in Woodstock causing a shutdown.
WOODSTOCK - Heart FM is getting word this hour about an evacuation at the Toyota Plant in Woodstock after a possible chemical explosion.
Local police and fire officials have confirmed that a scare did happen at the plant in Woodstock, however no word at this time as to what may have caused the explosion. Listeners who work at Toyota have told HeartFM News that nobody was injured. A couple barrels exploded and employees were sent home because the paint shop shut down.
Fire Prevention Officer Jeff Slager tells Heart FM this is not a fire related incident and they have not been asked to investigate anything. Fire crews are still on site and he doesn't think anything has escalated. The call came in just after 1:00 pm today.
UPDATE: The Woodstock Fire Department has issued a press release. It appears the explosion was caused by a overpressure rupture.
The evacuation was done in accordance with Toyota's fire prevention training and nobody was injured. No fire actually happened either.
