Heavy rain and intense thunderstorms are possible for Oxford County, prompting Environment Canada to issue a Yellow Watch.
OXFORD COUNTY - Environment Canada has issued a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms in Oxford County.
The storms could bring gusts of wind up to 90 km/h, toonie-sized hail, and a risk for a tornado. It is expected to last into this evening. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to intensify early this afternoon. Once the storms have intensified, there is a risk of a brief tornado. There could also be local utility outages due to the intensity of the storms.
Environment Canada is warning people to be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail, and secure loose objects.
