WOODSTOCK - The boathouse pavilion in Southside Park is going to be filled with hungry residents as Oxford County's MPP prepares for another well attended Pig Roast.
Ernie Hardeman knows this is one of the best ways to meet many of the citizens of Oxford County in person.
"Obviously I think to do a good job looking after what needs doing you need to hear from the people, and get their viewpoints on things. It is so important that the people of Oxford get to know me, and if they have a problem they know who to call. We started it many years ago and it seems to work. It is amazing how many new people come each year, that weren't their last year."
The event that draws hundreds every year into Southside Park is returning this weekend and Hardeman is looking forward to seeing you attend when the event kicks off at 4 o'clock.
"We get to talk to people that we don't necessarily get to talk to very often. It is amazing how often people will walk up to you, in the waiting line, and to talk to you about the issues of the day. It is a great communications tool to meet with the public."
Along with the pig roasts, hamburgers will be available as well as many salads.
Many of Oxford County's finest will take part in the family event that enjoys a large turnout and Hardeman explains where the food will be coming from.
"It varies each year, it can be anywhere between 400-800 people. Everything that we eat will be local, and it definitely was prepared in Oxford, by people in Oxford."
The Pig Roast has been growing in attendance every year, and will be held rain or shine on Saturday evening.
