The ETFO will not be heading into arbitration with the province. It will instead file for conciliation and hold a provincewide strike vote in September.
ONTARIO - The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario will not accept a deal to head into arbitration with the province.
President Karen Brown says the negotiations have progressed at an unacceptably slow rate, so the union will file for conciliation and hold a provincewide strike vote in September. ETFO represents English elementary school teachers across Ontario.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation has reached an agreement with the province so the two parties will negotiate until the end of October. During a press conference on Monday, Education Minister Stephen Lecce encouraged three other teachers' unions to agree to the same deal.
Here’s a portion of today’s press conference. Watch @etfopresident announce the our intention to file for conciliation in an effort to reach fair agreements.
