The Every Child Matters Flag will soon by flying outside the Oxford County Administration Building in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the public are invited to a special flag raising ceremony at the Oxford County Administration Building.
The Every Child Matters flag will be raised at 9:30 a.m. this Friday, ahead of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation next Monday. Warden Marcus Ryan will be on site along with Patricia Marshal, who is the founder and Director of the Indigenous, Solidarity and Awareness Network for Oxford (ISAN Oxford).
Marshal will also be on the Heart FM morning show with Dan and Marcie at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday. She will talk about National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and all of the local events happening around Oxford to recognize it.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is observed on September 30th each year to honour those who were affected by the Indigenous residential school system. It also recognizes those who were affected by the 60s Millennial Scoops, where large numbers of Indigenous children were brought into the child welfare system in Canada.
