No one submitted nomination forms for the Ward 1 council seat in East Zorra Tavistock, so the township is extending the deadline.
EAST ZORRA TAVISTOCK - The Township East Zorra Tavistock is extending nomination deadline for their Ward 1 councillor position.
Township Clerk Will Jaques says it's a last ditch effort to fill the council seat.
"The nominations closed on Friday but we didn't get any nominations for Ward 1 so we've extended the deadline for one day only; August 1st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m."
Those interested can pick up a nomination package at the municipal office located at 90 Loveys Street in Hickson today.
Jaques says each package includes a decent amount of paperwork.
"They would have to file their nomination form, the form that requires 25 signatures from eligible electors, the consent to release personal information form, show us proof of ID and then as well provide the nomination filing fee of $100."
This is not a common occurrence for East Zorra Tavistock. Jaques says this is the first time this has happened that he is aware of.
