It's a day that aims at celebrating the importance of families and family life. But, Family Day may prevent you from your daily routine. Many facilities are closed for the holiday: - most City of Woodstock departments will be closed - Transit and Para-Transit will not be running - today's garbage collection will be picked up tomorrow - provincially run facilities are closed such as banks, the LCBO, and Beer Store - many grocery stores and supermarkets may be closed - schools and libraries are closed However, there are lots of opportunities for you to get out and have fun. In Woodstock, Southwood Arena will be open at 4pm for a public skate from 4:15pm-6:05pm and the Civic Centre Arena will open at 5 pm. Stephanie Porter from the Woodstock Art Gallery says the whole cultural sector is getting involved as well. "This stems from last year, which was our first Family Day here at the Woodstock Art Gallery and we saw over 400 people doing live performances and art activities. This year, the whole cultural sector got together in Woodstock and we're actually having a whole day event," said Porter. It starts at Gallery Cinemas at 9:30am for a $2 movie. Then Woodstock Art Gallery will be open from 11am- 1pm and Woodstock Museum will be open from 1 to 4 pm for Family Day Activities. Southside Aquatic Centre will be open for a Public Swim at 1pm. There?ll be plenty to do in Tillsonburg as well. Starting at 8am this morning is a pancake breakfast in the Lions Auditorium. Families can enjoy a free skate from 9?10:30 am and again from 1-2 pm at the Memorial Arena and finish the day with a free swim at the Community Centre between 3?4pm.
