A Woodstock woman has started a Facebook page in order to make sure no pet goes hungry in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - Feeding Furbabies is trying to make it so no pet has to go hungry in these uncertain times.
Janet Nimmo created the Facebook page after moving to Woodstock 5 months ago. She doesn't have any pets herself and but had heard numerous stories of people struggling to keep themselves and their pets fed during the pandemic.
"Feeding Furbabies is a free site that I created to help people and pets. The goal is if I can keep your furbabies fed, you will have funds to feed yourself and your family. I found since moving to Woodstock 5 months ago, people are struggling to keep themselves and pets fed. They will feed their pets before eating themselves. If I can provide pet food, people will have a bit more money for what they need."
You can donate pet food through her Feeding Furbabies Facebook page. Nimmo will come to your home to collect the donations. She then posts what she has on her page and offers the food to anyone in need.
"To help more families I will split kibble into Ziploc baggies usually 12 cups per baggie. Some families only need a bit of food till they can pick up, others need a bit more help. I always write on the baggies what brand the food is and the flavour. Chicken, beef, lamb and rice. This is all totally free for families. I have no pets myself right now and I'm doing this strictly out of love for animals."
Nimmo is truly grateful for the generosity of the Friendly City thus far.
"There is no possible way any of this could work without the kindness of the people who donate. I am amazed and so grateful to the people and places that have donated. Every pick up I do warms my heart. Sometimes it’s a donation from a family who lost their furbabies and want to help out. Sometimes it’s someone who just buys a bag of kibble just to donate it."
You can get in touch with the organizers via email at kodyspencer@rogers.com or through the Feeding Furbabies Facebook page.
