Oxford County Public Health and Public Health Ontario will be presenting the final results of the Air Quality Assessment this week.
BEACHVILLE - Beachville residents are invited to a public meeting to hear the final report on the air quality assessment.
The report is available online and they will have a presentation followed by a Q and A on Thursday night at the Colombo Club from 6 - 8 p.m. Manager of Health Protection Peter Haywood tells Heart FM some of the good news from the report.
"Air monitoring data that was collected was below the standards of the Canadian air quality standards, so this is good news for the people of Beachville. We did identify periodic short term episodes of larger particulate matter, the matter you would identify with dust say on your lawn furniture or your car."
Haywood breaks down what will happen at the public meeting.
"So during the public meeting, Public Health Ontario along with Oxford County public health will take some time to present the findings of the Beachville Air Quality Assessment, this will include the air monitoring data that was collected and the outreach and education activities that were conducted."
Four actions have been tabled in the final report.
- Conduct further air monitoring over the next twelve months for an enhanced understanding of ‘dust events’ occurring in the Beachville area
- Explore the feasibility of incorporating air quality studies for new quarry applications
- Keep the community and stakeholders informed of practices and activities that support air quality improvement efforts
- Pilot a telephone surveillance system to capture data on key public health indicators related to air quality
