Don't get burned by a fire scam. Woodstock Fire is warning the public, especially businesses about a bogus call for advertising. A person from a company called "Fire House Promotions" has been calling and e-mailing companies, soliciting for advertising. They claim to be selling ad space on memo board that will be distributed by the Woodstock Fire Department at public events. They even have a phony website, and the man making the calls and e-mails goes by the name "Ricky Rummels". Fire Chief Scott Tegler tells Heart FM the promotion is a scam. Tegler says he has heard of other spins on the scam and wants the public to know that the fire department is not involved in any solicitation, or selling of ads.
