The 10 year old child was last spotted this morning around 10:30 by the river in Mitchell. People are being asked to avoid the area during the search efforts.
The search continues this evening in West Perth for a missing 10 year old child.
The child was last spotted just before 10:30 on Sunday morning at the river just outside of Mitchell. Currently, the Stratford, St. Marys, and Huron Area Search and Rescue Swift Water Rescue teams, along with the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Underwater Search and Rescue, and Aviation are searching for the child.
In order to give space for the emergency services to work in the treacherous conditions, the public is asked to avoid the area. While a number of citizens have offered to assist in the search, the area of the river is not safe, and could hinder the rescue efforts.
