It looks like rising waters will lead to flooding for at least one community along the Nith River. The Grand River Watershed has issued a Level 1 Flood Warning for the community of Ayr. The water there is expected to peak on Wednesday morning and remain high through the remainder of the week. It will impact residents along Tanner and Piper streets, and residents there are advised not to park vehicles in low lying areas overnight tonight and for the next few days. The news is more favorable for New Hamburg where the river is expected to peak this afternoon, just below flood warning level. The GRCA is also warning that ice jams are possible in the southern portion of the river, which could lead to some localized flooding.
