A food/bottle drive will be held at The Pub on Norwich Ave in Woodstock from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. this evening.
WOODSTOCK/OXFORD - A local food and bottle drive will help seniors in need.
Donations will be accepted at The Pub on Norwich Ave in Woodstock from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. tonight with all of the proceeds going to Seniors in Food Crisis Oxford County.
Founder Jayna Hendren says they're not limited to just non-perishables.
"If you go to the food bank for example, you get the Kraft Dinner but you don't get the margarine or the milk to do with it. So we do the Kraft Dinner plus the margarine and the milk. So you can donate tuna with the Tuna Helper or hamburger with the Hamburger Helper, things like that."
Seniors in need of help can post to the Seniors in Food Crisis Oxford County Facebook group, and a driver will deliver food right to their doorstep. The group currently has over 1,300 members.
The empty bottles collected this evening will help pay for the gas for volunteer drivers.
Hendren is grateful for The Pub's support, and she hopes to see a lot of people tonight.
"They've got live entertainment Friday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. so we thought we should do it then. People can enjoy the live entertainment and if they bring food or empties, they'll get a ballot for a draw."
Those with a ballot will be entered for a chance to win a prize donated by The Pub.
