Ontario Premier Doug Ford is telling protestors in Ottawa to hit the road.
ONTARIO - Ontario Premier Doug Ford is telling protestors in Ottawa to hit the road.
Speaking in Ajax today, the Premier says it is time for the protestors to go home and let the citizens of Ottawa get on with their lives.
"I hear the protesters, the province hears the protesters, the country hears the protesters but now, it's time to let the people in Ottawa get back to their lives."
Ford says he supports the federal government's mandate that truckers be vaccinated against COVID-19 to cross the Canada-US border. He notes he has always supported vaccinations and that vaccinations are the key to beating COVID-19 and moving on with our lives.
"People may disagree one side or the other, but I’m going to support getting vaccinated and that’s no shot against the truckers. Keep in mind, close to 90 per cent of the truckers are vaccinated."
The comments were made at an announcement for a long term care home in Ajax.
The protest continues in Ottawa and is now in day 4. Most of the truckers have gone home, however the ones who have stayed put, appear to be staying for the long haul. You can still see a line of trucks in Ottawa near Parliament.
