Fore For Shan

Golfers will be supporting Team Shan during the annual golf tournament at Woodstock Meadows.

WOODSTOCK - Golfers will be hitting the greens in memory of a special young lady.

The Fore For Shan Golf Tournament in memory of Shanna Larsen returns to the Woodstock Meadows for an 8th year on Saturday, August 12.

The tournament raises funds to support breast cancer research as well as serving as a reminder that breast cancer is not just an older woman's disease. Shan lost her battle with breast cancer at just 24 years old.

President Lorna Larsen says the community really gets behind the cause, even if they can't get behind the ball quite as well.

"It's for novice golfers or keen golfers because it's 18 holes of best ball so you just put a team together and off you go."

Although the cause is serious, the day includes lots of fun contests (including the Longest Drive, Best Dressed, and Putting Competition) as well as a silent auction.

"We have a tonne of prizes for the event," Larsen promises. "Almost everyone goes home with something and there's a chance for items with our silent auction that supports the event and our efforts here in Woodstock."

Registration is open now - the cost is $55 for an individual or $200 for a foursome. To register contact Rob Larsen at 226-504-6220 or email roblarsen@sympatico.ca
