Former Conservative Leader Patrick Brown Settles Lawsuit With CTV National News

Patrick Brown has settled his lawsuit with CTV news, clearing his name and potentially opening the door for a run at the Federal Conservative Leadership race.

Former Ontario Conservative Leader and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has settled his lawsuit with CTV news.

Brown was likely about to become Ontario's Premier when a bombshell report from CTV, accusing him of sexual misconduct against two women was made public. Brown was forced to resign, paving the way for Doug Ford to take the reigns and ultimately become Premier.

Brown filed an $8 million dollar defamation lawsuit against CTV in 2018. On Monday, CTV signed an agreement with Brown. Details of the agreement were not made public.

CTV National News did release a statement clearing Brown's name.

"Key details provided to CTV for the story were factually incorrect and required correction. CTV National News regrets including those details in the story and any harm this may have caused to Mr. Brown."

In the initial report, CTV stated one of the women who came forward was underage and in high school at the time of the alleged events. It turns out that was not true and the woman eventually changed her story to say she was actually 19 and had graduated high school.

Many political experts suggest this lawsuit will pave the way for Brown to announce his entry into the Federal Conservative leadership race.
